Bringing London To Paris To Life

London to Paris is a staple of many mass participation rides these days and for good reason: the three or four-day route is the perfect mix of undulating Kent countryside and beautiful rolling hills of northern France.

The Brief

Freeride was approached by the UK’s leading blood cancer charity, Cure Leukaemia, to cover its 2019 London to Paris ride, a critical part of the growing charity’s annual fundraising efforts.

Cure Leukaemia wanted two videos from their 2019 London to Paris ride: a main event video bringing the experience to life from start to finish and featuring stories from participants and a light-hearted music parody video featuring as many of the riders as possible to be shown on the Sunday night in Paris.

What We Did

On short notice, our video production team followed the 450km ride from the 6am Thursday start in Greenwich Park, London, to the incredible finish on Sunday afternoon past the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris, ending underneath the Eiffel Tower.

Editing on the job, the music parody video was shown at the celebration party in Paris on the Sunday evening. The ride was taken on by a number of inspiring blood cancer survivors, co-founder Professor Charlie Craddock CBE, one the world's leading experts on leukaemia and prominent Cure Leukaemia supporters, including ex-England footballer, Geoff Thomas, and current England Under-21 coach, Aidy Boothroyd.

Bobby Bridgeman, Head of Communications at Cure Leukaemia, said:

"Freeride provided highly professional and engaging video content for our London 2 Paris bike ride in 2019. Due to circumstance this year, Freeride stepped in at the 11th hour to provide video coverage of the event with less than a week’s notice and minimal briefing as a result.

From the videos they produced you would not have known and their skills took the coverage of our event to a higher level allowing us to grow the event with a wider audience for 2020. I would like to thank them for their efforts at such short notice and look forward to working with them again next year."
